Earth Hour

Help celebrate Earth Hour by turning off all your lights between 8 and 9 pm today. Or you could keep them off all day. That's what I'm doing.

xkcd

Hahahaha! Look at this. Look at this! It is a reference to the problem "There are two doors with guards. One always tells the truth and the other...bla bla bla" that was made famous in the movie Labyrinth. It's very funny, don't you agree?

Freethought

I've started listening to Freethought Radio. From what I've heard today, I love it. I'm going to listen to it every time it's on. For those of you who don't know what Freethought is, it's like a loose group or philosophy of atheists, agnostics, skeptics, etc. Visit here, or here for more information.

Paraphrased from the Freethought Zone:

One of the most common questions that I am asked by theists is "Why don't you believe in my god?". The answer is that I simply do not see any valid reason for holding such a belief. In order to rationally believe any claim, one must first have credible evidence. There is, however, no credible evidence for the existence of a god. So nontheists don't believe in gods for the same reason that theists don't believe in Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, or the gods of other religions. Stephen Roberts explained the difference between theists and atheists as follows:

"I contend that we are both nontheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."

I believe this quote completely wholeheartedly. I believe that if you lead a good life, whether a believer or not, and it turns out that God exists, you’ll got to heaven. I won’t believe in God (or any other sort of god) out of fear of going to Hell or out of peer pressure of society.
